REGION OVERVIEW

Also known as the Western Sporades, Argo-Saronic Islands is an archipelago in Greece, located in the Saronic Gulf just south of Athens and off the North eastern coast of the Peloponnisos.

Many mainland Greeks have vacation homes in the Saronic Islands, which are served regularly by ferries from Piraeus and the Peloponnese. Salamis, the largest island of the group, is where the ancient Greek navy defeated the Persians in the Battle of Salamis.

This is the most accessible island group from Athens so is favoured by wealthy Athenians along with Greek and International artists.  It is also a popular area for day-trippers and yachtsmen.

They are some of the smallest islands in Greece, and are undeniably popular and cosmopolitan. Hydra and Spetses are car-free islands, with charming quaint alleys, 18th and 19th-century mansions, and beautiful bays and coves. Their stunning waters often surround beaches that are inaccessible except by boat.

Work in progress

For a few years Simon and Katie Kemp were based in Poros aboard their yacht Rope Sole. Their mission was to pray and make connections, laying the spiritual groundwork for future works. They have now returned to the UK, so we are excited to see whom God brings to continue the work in this region.  Could it be you?

If you are interested in volunteering short or long term with us in this region, please get in touch, we would love to see how we can work together!
